「縁( えにし)」という漢字は、えん、えにし、ゆかり... などとさまざまに読むことができますが、もとは織物のへり飾りの部分を意味する字なのだそうです。

縁( えん) という言葉も、本来は物事の発端や原因や条件をあらわす言葉で、やがてそこから生じた人と人とのめぐり合わせや結びつきも指すようになったということです。

縦横に糸がめぐらされ、複雑に織り上げられている織物。私たちの人生も、織物を紡いでいく作業に似ているような気がします。

目には見えない縁( えにし) の糸をたぐり寄せたり、結んだり。たまには、もつれたり、切れたりすることもあるかもしれませんが、またどこかで繋がるかもしれない.....。

たくさんの糸が織りなす織物が美しい輝きを放っているように、皆様が「着物」や「和」を通して、人生をより楽しみ、より美しく輝いていってほしいというのが、我々縁の願いです。

 

 

 

The Japanese character Enishi, 縁, originally had the meaning of the decorative edges of fabric.

It could also mean the origin or cause of something, and ultimately came to apply to fate and the bonds between us, like an intricately woven tapestry.

These unseen bonds connect us like threads, weaving our fates together and creating emotional connections.

Occasionally these bonds may get tangled or even severed, but even then they may someday be restored.

Like many threads woven together giving off a beautiful glow, it is our wish to bring everyone together through our shared interest in Kimono and Japanese culture.
